Your teeth are the most important part of your body as they help you to chew. Chewing easily provides you with all the nutrients that are present in the food that you eat. While chewing the saliva in your mouth mixes with the food & helps it to thoroughly break down for easy digestion. Thus, your teeth play a vital role in food digestion.

But some of our daily habits can cause a negative effect on your teeth

Biting nails

If you have a habit of biting your nails continuously than it is very crucial to get rid of it as soon. According to Oral Answers team, this habit weakens your teeth roots that can lead to chipped teeth or contribute to gingivitis. It further influences your oral health making them more prone to plaque & bacteria build up.

Brushing too hard

Brushing your teeth every day is good oral hygiene but brushing them harshly can weaken your tooth enamel, making them prone to decay, irritate your gums, make them sensitive to hot & cold. According to the dentists always use a soft bristled brush, use short strokes in scrubbing motion and don't apply extra pressure to remove plaque that can cause damage.

Using tooth as your tool

Many people have the habit of using their teeth as a bottle opener, open packet of chips, remove cloth tags, tear tape or thread. Using your teeth as a tool cause them to crack, chip or can even worse the complications. don't use your teeth as a tool (scissors, bottle opener) go and grab your toolbox for the purpose.

Drinking or Eating excess sugar

Eating candies or drinking sugary drinks are very acidic that damages your teeth, cause cavities& many dental health problems. Intake of candies, soda drinks, energy drinks makes the bacteria living in your mouth digest carbohydrates from the refined sugar creating a plaque that ultimately leads to decay around gum line & loss of enamel.

Chewing ice

Many people have an innocent habit since childhood; biting ice. Ice cubes are harmless but do you know this habit can also damage your teeth. Chewing ice can put your teeth at risk of getting chipped or cracked, damage tooth enamel & makes them more prone to cavities.
